WebAug 9, 2005 · The society has a collection of steam, diesel and petrol locomotives, mostly from the Queensland sugar industry, as well as rolling stock and other heritage items. Train rides operate on the first and third Sunday of each month, mostly using steam locomotives. Woodford is located approximately 80 km north of Brisbane. WebThe Society was created as a community-based, non-profit organisation, founded in 1962 by Judith Wright, Brian Clouston, David Fleay and Kathleen MacArthur. Current patron, Margaret Thorsborne, is an eminent veteran conservationist who worked alongside Judith Wright in the original campaign to protect the Great Barrier Reef in 1967.
